The 332nd birthday of Johann Sebastian Bach will be celebrated at many locations, including the Bachhaus in Eisenach, his birthplace. Birthday guests can look forward to
a full day of interesting things to see, hear and do, including lots of music, a reading and the opening of a new exhibition room in the museum.
The festivities in Eisenach will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the traditional Bach tribute at the Bach Monument. The programme includes performances by the Eisenacher Kurrende (boys and girls choir) and the Trombone Choir of St. George’s Church (Georgenkirche). Official speeches, for example by the Mayor of Eisenach and the Vice President of the Neue Bachgesellschaft Executive Board, Roderich Kreile (Dresden), will be followed by the ceremonial cutting of the large birthday cake.

11:00 a.m.: Bach tribute in front of the Bach Monument
11:45 a.m.: Coffee and birthday cake at the Bachhaus
12:30 p.m.: Opening of the new exhibition room “Bach’s Inner World”
2:00 p.m.: Volker Hagedorn reading from his book Bachs Welt – Die Familiengeschichte eines Genies
7:30 p.m.: Birthday concert featuring harpsichordist Pieter Dirksen (Utrecht)
